Biodiversity illuminated: Finissage of the aquamediale 16 in Lübben!

The anticipation is increasing because on September 27, 2025 the finissage of the fascinating art exhibition aquamediale 16 will be celebrated in the biosphere reserve around Lübben. Under the motto “biodiversity – everything is connected to everything,” art lovers can look forward to one last opportunity to experience the works of ten national and international artists. This exhibition has been an integral part of the cultural landscape in Lübben (Spreewald) since May 31, 2025.

The festival aims to question the nature myth and raise awareness of environmental problems. Located in the beautiful nature of the biosphere reserve, the works of art are presented along the Spree and its river. Special swimming trips with the barge, offered by “Flottes Rudel”, enable visitors to experience the art up close. The last art boat trip starts at 10 a.m. at Kahnhafen 1 on the castle island - so be on time and secure a ticket! Bookings can be made directly with Martin Matthei on +49 3546 7122 or +49 171 9560695.

The concept of biodiversity takes center stage

The artists, including Nicole Schuck, Anna Mrzyglod and Helene Heyder, have taken on the challenge of artistically visualizing their findings and visions about the environment. By focusing on the balance between species, they encourage visitors to think about our relationship with nature. The opening on May 31, 2025 also focused on this important dialogue between art, science and society, which is of central importance for awareness of biodiversity. The loss of biodiversity due to human activities is a pressing issue that the artists bring into the spotlight through their work.

Public awareness of the biodiversity crisis remains low, despite its enormous importance for human well-being. The InUrFaCE association has set itself the task of conveying this topic emotionally through art and thus strengthening people's sensitivity. A first step towards this is the conference entitled “biodiversity – everything connected to everything”, which will take place on November 16, 2024 in the district office/district hall in Lübben.

Of works of art and experiences

A special highlight of the finissage will be the dismantling of the works of art from 2 p.m., accompanied by the artists. Some of the works on display are even available for purchase, providing a great opportunity for art collectors and lovers to own a piece of this special exhibition. Anyone interested can contact curator Harald Larisch at harald-larisch@gmx.de.

For anyone who would like to delve deeper into the subject matter, there are free flyers on the interpretation of the works of art and an extensive catalog of works that can be purchased for a small fee from the opening.

In summary, aquamediale 16 offers an excellent opportunity to reflect on the complex relationship between humans and nature. The works of art not only encourage reflection, but also invite active dialogue. This unique fusion of art and nature is very important in the region and is attracting more and more visitors.
