Citizens' dialogue on the future of healthcare in Lusatia!
Important events on the future of healthcare in Lusatia are coming up in the coming weeks. The next citizens' dialogue will take place in the city of Luckau on November 13, 2025, which will be dedicated to the discussion about future health care in the Lausitz Health Model Region. The dialogue begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Bohnstedt-Gymnasium. This format is intended to give citizens from the districts of Dahme-Spreewald, Oberspreewald-Lausitz, Spree-Neiße, Elbe-Elster and the city of Cottbus the opportunity to contribute their perspectives and actively participate in improving health care.
The aim of the citizen dialogue is to address the important challenges in healthcare. Sebastian Scholl, the representative of the model region, emphasizes how crucial direct exchange with citizens is in order to find out what they really need. A guiding principle here could be: Everyone has something to contribute. The event offers a professionally moderated format in which board members of the Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem (MUL–CT) and other experts will be present to listen to citizens' concerns.
Topics of discussion
During the course of the event, various key topics that are important for future healthcare will be addressed:
- Zusammenarbeit von ambulanten und stationären Angeboten
- Unterstützung für pflegebedürftige Menschen und deren Angehörige
- Chancen durch innovative und digitale Lösungen
- Stärkung der Gesundheitsversorgung durch Prävention und Eigenverantwortung
These issues are important not only for citizens, but also for the future development of reform plans in the region. District Administrator Sven Herzberger supports the format and highlights the challenges facing healthcare in rural areas. This shows that it is time to develop solutions together.
Event series
The citizen dialogue is part of a comprehensive dialogue series launched by the MUL–CT. Citizens have the opportunity to share their experiences, wishes and expectations regarding healthcare and to speak directly with experts. The events are structured in such a way that there are several parts:
- Einführung in die Modellregion und offener Austausch
- World-Cafés mit kleinen Gesprächsrunden zu zentralen Zukunftsfragen, moderiert von Experten der MUL–CT
- Zusätzliche vertiefende Interviews in kleinen Gruppen
Further events are planned, including one on November 3, 2025 in Königs Wusterhausen and one in Lübben on November 24, 2025. It is important to know that the number of participants is limited to 100 people each. Registration is therefore required to ensure that both citizens and experts have sufficient space to share their opinions. Those interested can contact: buergerdialoge@dahme-spreewald.de register.
For all those who want to actively participate in shaping their health care, these citizen dialogues are a valuable opportunity to constructively shape and discuss some of the most pressing issues in public health care. The exchange of ideas and experiences could be the key to creating a future-oriented healthcare network in Lusatia. Comprehensive cooperation between citizens and experts is therefore very important!
