Large construction site: Luckenwalder Straße completely closed from August 18th!

As already announced, Luckenwalder Straße in Königs Wusterhausen will be closed for a certain period of time from August 18, 2025. This measure will last until September 5, 2025. The reason for this closure is the replacement of the district heating pipe, which is being carried out by the heat supply company Königs Wusterhausen (WKW). Such construction work is essential to ensure security of supply for the coming years and at the same time to enforce the most modern standards in heat supply Meeting point Dahme-Spreewald is explained.

For drivers this means: diversions will be set up that lead via the B179, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, Goethestraße and Cottbuser Straße. However, it is reassuring to know that Bettina-von-Arnim-Straße and Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße remain accessible in both directions. The buses of the Regional Transport Company Dahme-Spreewald (RVS) are also affected by these changes and will be rerouted via Goethestrasse, Erich-Weinert-Strasse and Gerhart-Hauptmann-Strasse.

Temporary stops and further closures

A temporary stop was set up on Erich-Weinert-Straße, which is located directly in front of the Otto-Lilienthal comprehensive school, especially for commuters and students. The measures that will follow from September 8, 2025 provide for the closure of Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße between Luckenwalder Straße and Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße. Appropriate diversions will also be set up here to minimize traffic disruption.

The work will be carried out using an open construction method, meaning that direct visibility and access to the work will be possible for residents and motorists. It is all the more important that everyone involved is informed and included, as indicated in the new report by the Federal Environment Agency. The acceptance of district heating among the population increases through transparency and participation, as several of the measures outlined there can show, including systematic learning and improving price transparency.

A look at the future of heat supply

Replacing the district heating pipeline is an important step towards a modern, efficient and sustainable heat supply. Low prices and sustainable solutions are becoming increasingly important not only for Königs Wusterhausen, but also around the world. It is important to actively shape the necessary changes and adjustments, which is clear from the report by the Federal Environment Agency: In future planning, the focus must be on the cooperation of all actors, from the municipality to providers to consumers.

So be warned: From August 18, 2025, things will temporarily get a little bumpy in Königs Wusterhausen - both on the road and when riding the bus. A small price to pay for a better and safer heat supply in the future!
