Parking problems in the crown park: Why tenants do not use an underground car park!
In the residential area "Kronenpark" in Königs Wusterhausen it is bubbling. Despite the underground car park just completed, which offers space for around 200 vehicles, many tenants prefer to park on the street. This phenomenon not only causes resentment among the residents, but also called on the scene. Marvin Heinrichs, 26 years old and has been living in the crown park for a year, reports on his peers: "I pay 900 euros for my 50 m² apartment, but 110 euros for a parking space in the underground car park are just too much for me," he explains while he looks at the parkchaos in Schütte-Lanz-Strasse. He is one of many who shy away from the costs and prefer to park on the street, which can lead to problems, as the press spokeswoman for the city, Katrin Kunipatz, confirms. The city has already set up bollards and parking signs to stop the wild parking.
The living situation in the crown park is tense overall: Most residential units are condominiums whose prices are not exactly small. A four -room apartment has a price of 500,000 euros and costs 1960 euros warm. In addition, only one parking space can be rented per apartment or bought for 35,000 euros. All of this contributes to uncertainty. Residents such as Andrea Haiber, who rented a parking space in the underground car park, have to fight with the challenges of parking regulations.
new district in planning
Another interesting aspect that excited the minds in Königs Wusterhausen is the planned development of a new district in the royal park. Up to 2,500 apartments are to be built on an area of 56 hectares, supplemented by a large park, daycare centers, shopping stores, medical practices and schools. This ambitious project could be launched with a significant investment by DLE Land Development GmbH, which has already put four million euros in the planning. As part of a survey, citizens have the opportunity to express their opinion, even if the result is not binding.
The mayor Michaela Wiezorek sees this project a chance for more participation, but there are also resistors. Many residents prefer a commercial area that was already planned in 1992. Critics warn of an overload of the infrastructure through the influx, and if the plans for the residential project fail, the old development plan could be active.
Overall, Königs Wusterhausen is at an exciting point: The parking problem in the crown park clearly shows that the infrastructure must also keep pace in a growing population. The planned district could be a solution or further distort the situation. It remains to be seen how the citizens' survey is and what decisions will be made in the near future.
