Shock under the traffic: Serious accident in Kleinziethen!
A serious traffic accident occurred in the Rhenish metropolis of Cologne on Tuesday morning, November 4th, 2025. Three vehicles collided on Mahlower Allee around 8 a.m., causing significant disruption to rush-hour traffic. A MAN tipper truck, a BMW and a Honda SUV were involved.
As maz-online.de reports, the MAN dump truck got out of its lane and hit the other two vehicles. The 67-year-old truck driver only sustained minor injuries and was treated as an outpatient on site. Tragically, the 58-year-old driver of the Honda suffered more serious injuries and had to be hospitalized. All three vehicles were no longer drivable after the impact, and the police estimated the damage at a five-figure euro amount.
Commuters severely affected
The accident site remained closed for around three hours, which drivers clearly felt. Rush hour traffic almost came to a standstill and many commuters had to take alternative routes. Such accidents are not only annoying, but also have a significant impact on road safety.
According to the Destatis data overview on traffic safety, it shows that such incidents give cause for alarm. The comprehensive statistics help analyze the causes of accidents and can help develop measures to improve safety. The goal is always to minimize the number of traffic accidents and thus reduce risks for all road users.
Current traffic accident statistics
The “Vision Zero” campaign aims to have zero traffic deaths by 2050. It is an ambitious goal, but one that can only be achieved through improved infrastructure and increased awareness among all road users.
The meeting of these road users in Cologne on Tuesday should serve as a reminder to all of us to be more careful in traffic. One can only hope that the 58-year-old Honda driver will recover quickly and that such incidents can be prevented in the future.
