The virtual building authority, which is already active in the Uckermark district and in the city of Schwedt, enables the digital participation of the public authorities. This technical innovation not only ensures efficiency, but also that citizens and companies can submit their building applications much easier and faster. Another plus: The digital construction act supports the processing and approval of building applications in a uniform, digital format. This makes the entire process significantly more fluid.

But how does the whole thing work in detail? The Brandenburg website provides comprehensive information on the necessary requirements for the application. It is important here, for example, that a maximum of 100 files can be sent to the building inspectorate per application. In addition, the size of a single file must not be more than 80 MB and all attachments together may include a maximum of 200 MB. Applicants must also pay attention to the fact that only PDF files are permitted and that umlauts and "&" signs in the file names must be avoided.

These measures should not only unify digital submission, but also reduce the bureaucratic effort for everyone involved.

As part of the project PlanningCloud it is being worked on intelligent solutions that should be useful not only for authorities, but also for planners, architects and developers. In view of the ongoing lack of housing in large cities and the historically low number of building permits, this approach could be an important strategy in order to speed up future construction projects.

The PlanningCloud project team comprises 18 partners, including well-known cities such as Berlin and Hamburg as well as various companies from the IT and real estate sectors. The aim is to provide data for cross -sector digitization that should support all actors in the planning process.
