120,000 euros for 18 projects: Havelland focuses on children and culture!
The rural area in Havelland has reason to be happy: The Local Action Group (LAG) Havelland has launched its action plan for the 2025 regional budget and is supporting a total of 18 small projects this year, including five exciting projects by children and youth groups. A total volume of around 120,000 euros is available to promote and strengthen commitment and community in the region's villages, as Rathenow24 reports.
The funded projects are diverse and appeal to different age groups. The residents of Rhinow can look forward to a new amusement park in the birch forest. The hands-on kitchen in the family's house in Friesack will be a popular meeting place, while the Künstlerwerk West e.V. association can spice up cultural events with professional sound technology. In addition, almost 1,400 children and young people selected their favorites online: table tennis table and basketball hoop for the little ones in Görne and a disc golf course in Wagnitz. The Kotzen youth fire department can also look forward to new equipment and cherry trees.
Call for submission of projects
Anyone who still has ideas should sit up and listen up now: On March 24, 2025, the LAG Havelland will start the second selection round for small projects within the framework of the regional budget. One goal of this initiative is to support rural development and strengthen regional identity. Project ideas can be submitted until May 15, 2025. A total of 70 projects from a wide variety of areas of agglomeration, encounters and nature have already found space in the regional budget since 2019, according to Lag-Havelland.
An exciting new element is the “HavellandHeroes” youth budget, which is dedicated to young people aged 0 to 27. Here, 15,000 euros are available for projects that can include a maximum of 3,000 euros in funding. This targeted support is intended to encourage particularly creative ideas from young people - a further incentive to get actively involved and do something for the community with your own initiative!
LEADER program as support
The background to this funding program lies in the European LEADER approach, which was created to give rural regions a new dynamic through community initiatives. The aim is to involve local actors in the development of their region and to serve them as drivers of change. The principles of the LEADER approach not only promote personal responsibility, but also networking between different actors, as EU shows.
The LAG Havelland implements this approach locally in order to sustainably promote the quality of life and economy in Havelland. In addition to the ongoing projects, funding for larger LEADER projects will again be available in September - a total of 2.5 million euros, for which ideas can be submitted until September 15, 2025. Anyone interested is cordially invited to a digital information event on July 16th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to find out everything you need to know about submitting an application.
Overall, it is clear that there is an exciting opportunity in the air in Havelland to actively shape togetherness and community. The coming months promise not only funding, but also the opportunity to bring innovative ideas to life.
