In 2023, more than 80,000 employees were active in road construction, and street builders enjoy great popularity with around 2,700 new trainees as a training profession. While the investments in the long -distance road infrastructure are still being in demand, the extensions have been stagnating since 1995 despite an increase of around 2,000 kilometers in the federal highway network to around 13,200 kilometers. The challenges and opportunities in road construction remain noticeable in Rathenow and important for the future of this region.
