In the small town of Friesack it's all about rock, punk and hardcore! On August 8th and 9th, 2025, the open-air stage will once again be the venue for the popular Frierock Festival, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The anticipation is great, even if the festival is faced with a small hurdle this year: the RE8 railway line between Wittenberge/Wismar and Schönefeld Airport will be closed during a general renovation. Nevertheless, fans don't have to worry. Deutsche Bahn has set up a half-hourly rail replacement service, and the organizers have set up additional alternatives. This includes dedicated shuttles, a coordinated ride sharing service and bike crews to ensure that no one is left behind.
The program offers a colorful mix of rock, punk, ska and hardcore. Expected bands include Last Line, Punch Up Pogos, Circus Rhapsody, Rong Kong Koma, The Offenders and Godsleep, an internationally acclaimed band from Athens, who will round out the line-up. Last year the organizers were pleased about around 800 visitors. With an entry cap on the open-air stage, it is recommended to secure tickets online in advance. The ticket price is 30 euros up to a week before the festival, 35 euros at the box office, although Friesack residents receive a discount of 10 euros upon presentation of their identity card.
Colorful weekday and city bet
The “Colorful Weekday” will take place one day before the festival, on August 7, 2025, and will be celebrated for the tenth time this year. As a family festival, visitors can expect an interesting program with hands-on activities, cabaret and warm dancing. A highlight of the day will be the city bet, in which the organizers bet against the citizens of Friesack that they can form a network with at least 100 people. This bet has a symbolic background: a 10,000-year-old fishing net was found in Friesack, which represents an exciting connection to the city's history.
The festival organizers are also looking for support from local shops, individuals, clubs and companies to make this event a real experience. For festival visitors, there is also information on the official Frierock Festival website, where tickets can be easily purchased online to avoid long queues at the box office. Further details can also be found on festifan.de, which provides an overview of festivals in the DACH region and helpful tips for an unforgettable festival experience.
