A sunny atmosphere characterized Saturday in Berlin and Brandenburg. The temperatures rose to up to 31 degrees, with Berlin shining with 30 degrees, the Oder with a more modest 27 degrees and the Havelland with 31 degrees. However, this pleasant warmth that makes us feel good at the moment could soon give way to a different chapter of the weather. But from Sunday onwards, increased attention to the weather is required. The clouds are gathering and the showers and thunderstorms are already in the starting blocks. From midday there will be heavy rainfall from the west, which can also be severe locally, including the possibility of hail. The temperatures will rise again to 26 degrees in Prignitz and up to 33 degrees in Lausitz, while 31 degrees are expected in Berlin. On Monday night the rain will move towards the east and bring with it a cooling down to 13 to 17 degrees.
Storm warnings in eastern Germany
The mood changes because the weather conditions are warm and humid, which brings with it the harbingers of strong thunderstorms. The first thunderstorms occurred in the west and southwest of Germany in the morning. Significant weather events are expected in these regions from the afternoon onwards. How Weather hazards noted, some strong thunderstorms are to be expected, which can be accompanied by gusts of up to 85 km/h and heavier hail. Even the risk of severe weather caused by gusts of wind with speeds of up to 100 km/h was mentioned.
On Sunday night, the thunderstorms intensified, especially in the western half of Germany. The forecasts speak of heavy rain with amounts of over 25 liters per square meter in a short time, and even around 40 liters in a few hours. These conditions could sometimes cause dangerous situations, which are being monitored closely by the weather services. The next update of the weather warning is expected no later than Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
