Police catch graffiti sprayers and uncover break-ins in Havelland!
In the last few days, the police in Havelland have recorded some notable incidents. On July 16, 2025, a series of criminal activities affecting both youth and adult citizens are reported. Among the reported incidents, the arrest of two graffiti sprayers in Wustermark stands out, one of them even in possession of a blank gun.
A witness called the police after three teenagers were seen spraying vehicles. Those arrested, aged 15 and 16, left their marks on property walls and a bus stop. Politically motivated reasons were not apparent, but they are now being held responsible for damage to property and violation of the weapons law. The young people were handed over to the care of their legal guardians, while the property damage could not yet be quantified ReportNet24 reported.
Burglary and traffic accidents
Another incident occurred in Falkensee, where a shop was broken into. Unknown perpetrators forced their way into the property. The police secured the crime scene and recorded witness statements. This is where forensic science specialists are called upon to quickly advance the investigation into the particularly serious theft. There is still no concrete information about the stolen goods or the material damage caused. The situation remains tense as the police are also keeping an eye on traffic accidents, such as an incident in Nauen in which a collision occurred due to a parking error. Fortunately, everyone involved was uninjured.
The large number of incidents raises the question of how youth crime is developing in Germany. In fact, it reached a peak in 2024, with around 13,800 cases, which is more than twice as high as in 2016. Young people between the ages of 14 and 17 in particular are showing an increasing tendency towards violent behavior, which, according to Statista, is attributed, among other things, to psychological stress caused by the Corona measures could.
Prevention and accountability
Although positive developments have also been observed - the total number of young suspects has fallen compared to recent decades - youth crime remains a major issue. Experts are calling for more prevention and stronger programs for children and young people in order to avoid criminal paths at an early stage. Especially in times of increasing violence, it is important that everyone responsible does their part to create a safe environment for young people, and this is where the challenges lie for the authorities and society.
