Police warn: Increase in break-ins and traffic accidents in Havelland!
In the Havelland region, especially in Rathenow, the police are reporting various incidents that have occurred in the last few weeks. The current police ticker from June 16, 2025 maz-online.de provides detailed information on traffic accidents, thefts and other police operations. There was already a serious traffic accident in Rathenow on April 3, 2025, in which a car and a van collided head-on. The low sun could have played a role.
Thefts and attempted fraud crimes repeatedly attract the attention of the police. On April 2, 2025, an 89-year-old woman was robbed in the inner city area of Premnitz. Just a day later, two men tried to get medication from a pharmacy with a forged prescription, but luckily they didn't succeed. These incidents show that there is a need for action in Havelland to ensure the safety of citizens.
Current situation and police operations
In the last few weeks the police have received numerous reports. Between March 28th and 29th, 2025, the police in Rathenow and surrounding areas were heavily challenged by various operations. These include damage to property, traffic accidents and also crimes against public order. Havelland experienced a tumultuous weekend in which both the police and emergency services were repeatedly called to operations.
The situation is similar with traffic controls, which often lead to exciting discoveries. A drug test on an e-scooter driver in Rathenow revealed a positive result for cannabis. In another incident, a driver of a VW Polo had to be lectured on the importance of responsible driving because of signs of being under the influence of drugs.
Crime statistics at a glance
The Police crime statistics (PKS) shows a 1.7% decrease in crime in 2024, due in part to the partial legalization of cannabis from April 1, 2024. However, the rise in crimes that undermine people's sense of security remains a serious issue. Thefts and property crimes are the most common crimes recorded in 2024.
Many citizens are particularly concerned about the increasing number of unreported crimes that remain hidden in the so-called dark field. Only the incidents officially processed by the police are recorded in the PKS, which is why a realistic assessment of the security situation is difficult. A decline in young suspects and an increase in non-German suspects raise additional questions.
The Havelland police station can be reached on +49 3322 2750, while the Falkensee police station is stationed at Finkenkruger Straße 73. These offices are present in Brieselang with contacts such as Lolita Beyer and Volkmar Luth, who strive to ensure the safety of citizens. If you have any information or are still concerned, you should not hesitate to contact the police.
In view of the increasing challenges in the area of crime, it is important that the population remains vigilant and addresses problems at an early stage. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe.
