Ribbeck celebrates: First Pear Queen stands for enjoyment and tradition!
There was anticipation in the air when the tenth Ribbeck Pear Festival was celebrated on September 28th and a very special moment was about to take place for the region: the coronation of the first Pear Queen. Natalia Tarka, a 16-year-old high school graduate from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Nauen, was appointed ambassador for the Ribbecker Pear. Her appearance on stage, where she drove up in style in a vintage car, left a lasting impression and brought smiles to the faces of the audience.
Marina Wesche, who runs the Altes Waschhaus café in Ribbeck, came up with the idea of introducing a pear queen. This café is part of the old distillery, which is run by Munich owner Janko von Ribbeck. Not only are the delicious Ribbeck pears processed here, but a variety of products such as pear vinegar, fruit spreads, teas and sauces are also produced.
The responsibility of an ambassador
Natalia Tarka has not only become the pear queen, but also sees it as her job to make the culture and products from Ribbeck better known. “I’m really looking forward to my future appearances and to introducing visitors to the region to pear products,” she reveals. Her two favorites are the pear tart and the aromatic pear vinegar, which she was able to share with many guests during the festival.
Natalia not only sees the pear factory in Havelland, which employs 16 people, as a workplace, but she also has personal ties through her two years working in the wash house café. After graduating from high school, she plans to study architecture and will also use her time as a pear queen to gain experience in dealing with people.
A celebration of community
The Ribbeck Pear Festival is not only a celebration of delicious fruits, but also an important social event. It brings the community together and honors the pear growing tradition in the region. Marina Wesche hopes that with Natalia's coronation and her commitment, she will further increase the awareness of the Ribbeck location and promote the love of pears. Existing and new products will form the heart of the Pear Queen's future events and appearances.
How well the idea was received is also reflected in the positive feedback from festival visitors, who were enthusiastic about Natalia and her role as the Pear Queen. Later appearances, including at the Green Week in Berlin, are also planned, where she will present the variety of pears and regional products.
The Ribbeck Pear Festival and Natalia Tarka's coronation are a beautiful example of how tradition and innovation go hand in hand and at the same time strengthen the sense of community. The pear, this delicious and versatile fruit, has not only gained a new name, but also a passionate ambassador who is adding a little more sparkle to our region.
