Tremmen is fighting for the title: Will our village become the state winner?
There is a lot of excitement in the Tremmen district of Ketzin: The charming village part won the district competition “Our Village has a Future” last year and is now competing in the state competition against 15 competitors, all of whom come from other Brandenburg districts. This reports maz-online.de.
The state's evaluation commission visited Tremmen on July 10, 2025, where they were received by local mayor Sandy Schulz and her team. The meeting began with the Gorka family, whose impressive conversion of an old pigsty into an apartment building immediately caught the eye. A quick but exciting commitment to the development of the place became visible.
A day full of highlights
To judge the village, the jury used umbrellas that they took from a sewing project. These came at just the right time as she walked to church. Once there, Thomas Vinz played the organ and the members of the jury were able to get an idea of the village's cultural heritage. Susanne Storch also had a lot to tell: She provided information about the preservation of the old farmhouses and the use of design regulations.
The commitment of the local youth was underlined by a visit to the fire department, where members of the youth fire department pointed out the team's commendable work. Another highlight of the visit was the presentation of club life at the sports field, which Daniel Wolter reported enthusiastically. The crowning conclusion was a singing contribution from the kindergarten.
A strong community commitment
The civic engagement in Tremmen is also reflected in the fact that senior citizens and local clubs provided the culinary catering during the jury day. The Lorberg company even provided a golf caddy for participants who might not be able to ride a bike. Active participation and cohesion are crucial for the development of rural regions, at least as important as the support from District Administrator Roger Lewandowski, District Head Michael Koch, Mayor Katrin Mußhoff and State Representative Johannes Funke.
The decision on the state competition, in which Tremmen is one of the finalists, will be announced on September 12, 2025. The commitment of the village community and the variety of projects they can demonstrate give hope for the possibility that Tremmen might even bring home the title. The competition is not only a platform to showcase the efforts, but also encourages other communities to actively work on their development, as well as the information from bmels.de confirm.
