Storm tragedy: mother killed – appeal for donations for the family!
A tragedy shakes the community of Schönwalde: On June 23rd, a tragic accident occurred that would change the lives of Ute Schneider, 55 years old, and her family forever. Ute was on her way home from a positive assessment meeting in her office in Berlin when the storm “Ziros” swept through the area with hurricane-like gusts. On the route via Schönwalder Allee, an uprooted tree fell on their car. A short time later, at 5 p.m., it happened - Ute Schneider could only be rescued dead, they report [maz-online.de].
The force of the storm was so strong that the German Weather Service had to raise accusations against itself because sufficient warning reports were not sent to the field. On the day of the accident, the warning apps Nina and Katwarn also remained silent, which raises questions about whether the population was informed in time. Meanwhile, the weather service reported wind speeds of up to 108 km/h, as also rbb24.de describes.
The consequences of the storm
The storm “Ziros” brought more than just personal loss. There was traffic chaos in Berlin and Brandenburg, which resulted in S-Bahn traffic being temporarily stopped. The fire brigade carried out over 500 missions in Berlin alone, and in Brandenburg more than 350 missions had to be dealt with after fallen trees and falling branches. There were injuries, including a cyclist and a driver, both of whom were seriously injured. Tragically, Ute Schneider was the only fatality mentioned in the media. The events did not remain without consequences for train traffic between Berlin and Hamburg, which was closed for hours, according to information from unwetterzentrale.de.
Ute Schneider was known in her community for her life-affirming nature and willingness to help. Above all, she cared about her family and neighbors. Her husband Mario Schneider and their two adult children now face the challenge of carrying on without her. In order to help the family during this difficult time, a friend of Ute, Carsten Ring, has launched a fundraising campaign on Gofundme. By July 16th, 8,840 euros had already been raised, which will be used to finance a dignified grave site and support the family.
The fate of Ute Schneider is not only a personal drama, but also sheds light on the need for better warning mechanisms among the population, especially when extreme weather events such as storms and thunderstorms are imminent. The appeal remains to keep an eye on your own security systems and to exercise caution when the weather situation is tense.
