Violence in Rüdersdorf and Vogelsdorf: Police must intervene immediately!

On the night of Sunday, August 8, 2025, the police in Rüdersdorf and Vogelsdorf had to intervene twice. Both cases involved violent clashes that cast a worrying light on the current security situation.

In Rüdersdorf there was a fight between two groups of youth at Puschkinstrasse 33a around 2 a.m. The argument began harmlessly with insulting words, but quickly developed into a physical altercation. According to moz.de, a young man who was held down and beaten by several people involved had to be taken to Rüdersdorf Hospital with bleeding injuries and dizziness. The exact reasons for the outbreak of violence are currently unclear and police have launched an investigation.

Conflict in Vogelsdorf

Just a few hours later, around 10:40 p.m., a police operation was also necessary in Vogelsdorf after two heavily intoxicated people clashed on Grenzstrasse. There were also mutual physical injuries: one woman suffered a reddened cheek, while her male opponent suffered a swollen lower lip. The woman's aggressive behavior even led to her damaging the man's furniture. Despite the presence of the police, the situation could not be calmed down, which ultimately resulted in the woman being arrested. After a night in custody, she was released the following day, but there was another argument that ended in a physical altercation. The woman is temporarily staying with a family member.

However, the incidents in Rüdersdorf and Vogelsdorf are not the only ones that are currently concerning the police authorities. An incident on January 21, 2025 also became known, in which a 19-year-old man was attacked with a knife by an unknown perpetrator on a pedestrian bridge in Rüdersdorf. Fortunately, he escaped with a superficial wound, which was treated at a hospital. Here too, the criminal police are investigating to clarify the background to the attack. Details can be found at polizei.brandenburg.de.

The violent crime trend

Where does society head if such acts of violence occur more frequently? According to Statista, violent crimes in Germany “only” account for less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police, but they have a massive impact on the population’s sense of security. In 2024, over 217,000 violent crimes were recorded, the highest number since 2007. A worrying trend! The data shows that the number of violent crimes has been increasing again since 2021, with economic uncertainties and social stresses being further investigated as possible reasons. This emerges from the surveys on [statista.com](https://de.statista.com/themen/11062/ criminalitaet-in-deutschland-violentcrimely/).

It is clear: the issues of violence and aggression are a concern for many citizens. A survey showed that 94% of Germans consider violence against people from politics, the police and the rescue service to be a major problem. These developments raise questions that urgently need to be answered in order to strengthen the feeling of security in everyday life.
