The disappearance of a 26-year-old German backpacker is causing great concern in the heart of Australia. Carolina Wilga, who comes from Castrop-Rauxel, has been missing since June 29, 2025. Her last known whereabouts were in the small town of Beacon, where she was last recorded on a surveillance camera. She had previously been shopping in Toodyay, about 90 kilometers northeast of Perth, the day before her last sighting. Despite their journey through Australia being considered safe, there is currently little evidence of their whereabouts.

The Western Australia police have now launched a large-scale search operation and also involved the homicide squad, which underlines the seriousness of the situation.
