New pedestrian crossings on Ziesarer Landstrasse: Safety in focus!

The construction work on Ziesarer Landstrasse is taking shape. The first construction phase was successfully completed on June 26, 2025, as the city of Brandenburg announced. Important stages have been achieved with the asphalting of the southern side of the road and the cycle path. Next week, traffic will be shifted to the completed south side, while dismantling of the old roadway and sidewalk on the north side begins. These measures are part of a comprehensive project to improve traffic safety on the busy L 93.

This road is not only a connection between the districts of Eigene Scholle and Wilhelmsdorf, but also an important feeder road to the A2 motorway near Wollin. The increasing volume of traffic and the need to enable pedestrians and bus drivers to cross safely have led the city to build a new pedestrian crossing between Netto-Markt and Birkenweg. According to a press release from the city of Brandenburg, stadt-brandenburg.de, the existing traffic light regulations and a temporary stop will remain in place during the construction phase.

Construction progress and planned measures

The first work began on April 14, 2025 and will be completed by the end of November 2025. The project includes the construction of a barrier-free pedestrian crossing with a central island, illuminated traffic signs and separate lighting. In addition, the bus stops are to be rebuilt and designed in the form of “stop capes” that protrude up to the road. These measures are intended to increase safety for pedestrians and public transport users.

The total costs for the construction work amount to around 540,000 euros, with 75 percent of this sum being covered by donations from the state of Brandenburg. The brandenburg-live.com describes that the construction work will be carried out with partial closures, while traffic will be directed using construction site lights. Access to the Netto parking lot will also be guaranteed throughout the entire construction period, which is of great importance for residents and customers.

A non-profit project for citizens

Mayor Steffen Scheller emphasizes the importance of the Ziesarer Landstrasse for the citizens. These structural measures not only improve mobility, but also the quality of life of the residents. The project is being implemented by HTB Holz- und Tiefbaugesellschaft mbH from Wenzlow, which will carry out the work in two construction phases meetingpoint-brandenburg.de.

Overall, the progress on the Ziesarer Landstrasse has already created a positive wind. Residents and road users can look forward to further developments that will noticeably increase safety and comfort when crossing this important artery.
