Medieval spectacle: Hundreds attend the knights' festival in Zernikow!
An exciting spectacle attracted numerous visitors to Zernikow in the Oberhavel region last Saturday, June 14, 2025. The 26th knight and village festival at Gut Zernikow was the perfect place for medieval lovers who wanted to be transported back to a time long gone. The event, which was organized by the members of the knights' association, is dedicated to the history of the village and the manor from the 14th century and is becoming increasingly popular.
Hundreds of interested guests stormed the estate, which was transformed into a living medieval camp. The atmosphere was characterized by sword and shield fights, witchcraft and magical games that captivated the audience. One of the special attractions was a medieval market, which offered a colorful hustle and bustle with craft demonstrations such as blacksmithing, turning, spinning and weaving. Both young and old visitors got their money's worth - Kiepenkasper's Punch and Judy show in particular proved to be a hit with the children, who were wide-eyed.
A celebration full of highlights
The jugglers and the Berlin Knights' Guild ensured that there was no boredom. The entry price of just 3 euros for adults (and free for those in robes and children under sword measure) made the enjoyment even more accessible. The knight's table also offered a variety of dishes that could be enjoyed as part of the lively market, and visitors could fortify themselves in the knight's room.
The record that the festival set in 2002 was particularly impressive: the longest knight's table in the world, which is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. A sign of how this event is now very popular not only locally, but also nationally, which the organizers are pushing forward with a lot of heart and commitment.
Medieval memories
The roots of the knight's festival go back to 1998, when it was launched to make the history of the village visible and tangible. Since then, the festivities around the Zernikow estate have enjoyed ever-increasing numbers of visitors, and even the most recent events show that the Middle Ages will never die out as a theme.
