New residential project in Marwitz: Five houses for Oranienburgers create space!
There is currently a lot of construction going on in Marwitz on Lindenstrasse. Five new houses are being built that were originally intended for refugees. But as it now appears, this planning could change due to the decreasing number of refugees. District Administrator Alexander Tönnies (SPD) announced at the most recent district council meeting that the use of the new accommodation for the general housing market was being considered. Up to 90 people were initially supposed to find a new home there, but now everything is open. The five buildings are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, but it remains exciting to wait for the decisions regarding the apartments.
Another important point in the region is Alstom's planned investment of up to 40 million euros in the Hennigsdorf plant. The funds will be used to realign operations, with digitalization and service at the center. The works council has a great interest in the rapid implementation of these investments and is already planning discussions about possible job cuts from November. It remains to be seen how these economic decisions will affect employees.
Demand for food banks is increasing
Another current topic is the increasing demand, which René Aßmann, who runs the unemployment association's food banks in Brandenburg, has noticed. Currently around 700 households in Oranienburg rely on the Tafel's support. This development clearly shows that, despite economic investments, the challenges in the social sector are still high and there is a need for further action.
Speaking of social projects: At the European level, there are various funding programs that aim to support integration and refugee projects. The Federal Agency for Political Education provides information about programs such as the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) or the European Social Fund, which are aimed at promoting measures to support refugees and disadvantaged groups. Funding is primarily provided by the federal and state governments. These initiatives are essential to ensure integration and enable social participation for all people.
Cultural and voluntary commitment
Volunteering should also not be neglected. The city of Hohen Neuendorf presented volunteer awards on October 10th in the new town hall. Around 100 guests came to honor the work of the volunteers - a nice gesture that shows how important social interaction is. Four deserving people were awarded the city's gold badge of honor and immortalized in the Book of Honor. Such recognitions are important and show that the commitment of many people is valued.
Another local event that caused a stir is the Luch cinema in Kremmen. It is currently not allowed to open due to a lack of permits, as the building is declared as a farm shop and cannot be used as a film venue. Operator Jan Kühling has already handed the problem over to his architect, but clarification could take months.
At a time when there is a need for action in many areas, these events from the region show that both economic and social issues must go hand in hand. The development in Marwitz, the necessary investments in Hennigsdorf, and the support for the food banks - all of these are indicators of the challenges that need to be overcome in order to promote a balanced community.
