100 years of Schwarzheide Volunteer Fire Department: tradition and volunteerism celebrated!

On November 7, 2025, the Schwarzheide Volunteer Fire Department, East Fire Department, celebrated a proud anniversary: 100 years of successful commitment to community safety. A solemn ceremony took place on this special occasion, at which Mayor Christoph Schmidt conveyed the city's congratulations. In his speech, he highlighted the tireless commitment of the fire brigade, who have been a reliable partner for citizens for a century.

The ceremony was characterized by thanks and respect for the activities of the volunteers who have been committed to civil protection for decades. The fire department looks back on a long tradition characterized by cohesion and reliability. Mayor Schmidt honored the fire department with a specially made anniversary coin to recognize the valuable voluntary work. This gesture was particularly well received by the members of the fire department.

Special honor as part of the anniversary

On the occasion of the anniversary, Alfred Richter, an honorary member of the fire department, was also celebrated, who celebrated his 93rd birthday that day. Alfred Richter has been active in the fire department since 1959 and has made outstanding contributions as deputy platoon leader of the east fire brigade. His honor symbolizes the many years that many comrades have put into the service of the community.

Such events are not only a reason to celebrate, they are also an opportunity to strengthen cohesion in the community and bring young and old together. It shows that volunteer work, as it was memorably expressed at the celebrations, has an inestimable value for society.

A look beyond the fire department

Although the anniversary in Schwarzheide was all about the fire department, many people are thinking about the challenges of the digital world. For example, Théo Bassan, for example, is currently struggling with a problem accessing his Outlook account. Microsoft ensures that users' security and privacy are maintained. Multiple incorrect password entries are prevented to prevent hacker attacks. Anyone in a similar situation must fill out an account recovery form and should provide as much information as possible about the Microsoft services used to increase the chances of regaining access to the account.

However, the account recovery process can be time-consuming. Microsoft will review the submitted response within 24 hours, and if verification is successful, the user will receive instructions on how to log back in.

This is how we think about the different challenges in everyday life, be it in the fire service or when dealing with digital technologies. Together, even if we sometimes face small hurdles, we manage to make the best of every situation.

After all, a welcoming “Bonjour” – both “hello” and “good morning” – can create an everyday connection between people. Expressing this, be it when celebrating or in digital communication, is part of social interaction, which was an important aspect at the fire brigade's anniversary, among other things.

The Schwarzheide Volunteer Fire Department remains not only a prime example of commitment, but also a place where community and tradition are lived.
