Restrictions in rail traffic: New bridge in Lübbenau from November 7th!
On November 7th there will be significant restrictions on rail traffic in the Lübbenau region. How Niederlausitz Current Reportedly, Deutsche Bahn is building a new railway bridge on this day, which will severely impact traffic on lines RE2 and RE7. From around 8 p.m., rail operations on the route between Lübben and Cottbus will be stopped.
The replacement services will begin at the same time. Passengers have to be prepared for two types of express buses: The first is the RE2X, which runs without stops between Lübben (Spreewald) and Cottbus main station. There will also be RE2 replacement buses that will run at all stops. The restrictions apply until the beginning of December, with an additional closure between Königs Wusterhausen and Cottbus from November 22nd to November 24th.
Details about the closures
The effects of the construction work should not be underestimated. The RE2 trains between Lübben (Spreewald) and Cottbus main station are completely canceled, and the RE7 connections between Lübben and Calau are also affected. These will not be available until November 28th. On certain days there could also be further outages on sections.
Passengers should inform themselves in good time and access the current timetables and alternative services via bahn.de, the VBB-Fahrinfo or the DB Navigator app. During this work, tracks, signaling systems and overhead lines will also be replaced. In addition, the Berliner Straße level crossing will be closed to road traffic from November 5th.
Detours and construction projects
The 2,200 ton railway overpass will be installed from November 9th. This measure is intended to advance Deutsche Bahn's “level-free traffic concept” project, which aims to dismantle a total of four level crossings in Lübbenau/Spreewald and create new roundabouts in their place. The diversions are well signposted and the closure of the level crossing is due to be lifted by November 29th at the latest. After November 24th, the construction area will then move to the L49 railway crossing in Boblitz, where new road overpasses and a bridge over the Grebbinfließ will be built by December 5th.
The construction work is causing a lot of noise in the region. Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to avoid the closed area. Deutsche Bahn has announced that the use of work trains, tamping machines and road-rail excavators will not be uncommon. Therefore, patience and a good hand are required when it comes to finding an alternative route.
