Driving license exchange: Urgent appeal to Teltow-Fläming citizens!
An important exchange date for drivers is coming up in the Teltow-Fläming region. All owners of driving licenses issued between 1999 and 2001 must exchange their driving license for the new, tamper-proof model by January 19, 2026. [maz-online.de] reports that this regulation is part of an EU initiative that is intended to set uniform standards for driving licenses. The citizens of Teltow-Fläming are also affected and should take care of the matter as soon as possible.
Some documents are required to exchange driving licenses: A valid ID card or passport, the current driving license and a biometric passport photo in paper form. The fees amount to 26.50 euros. The exchange procedures can be carried out at the driving license office in Luckenwalde as well as in various city and municipal administrations. What is new is that driving licenses that were issued before January 19, 2013 must be exchanged by January 19, 2033, although different deadlines apply [bundesregierung.de].
Changes in local transport
While drivers update their driving licenses, users of the “Kranichexpress” on-call bus service in Trebbin are also faced with uncertainty. From 2026 onwards, numerous journeys could be at risk as the drivers of the external company that currently operates this service will no longer be available. The district has not yet found a new provider, which makes the continuation of the offer questionable.
Special flights at BER
A lot of activity is expected at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) next weekend. Large aircraft, including the Bundeswehr's Poseidon P-8A, as well as other NFL aircraft are dispatched to mark an NFL game in Berlin. The departure of players and fans will take place on Sunday evening and Monday morning. This will make the airport particularly lively and offer an exciting event before things calm down again.
Forest and environment
Commercial mushroom collecting is prohibited by law in the forests of Teltow-Fläming and the Dahme-Spreewald district. Mushroom expert Moritz Schmid reported observations of suspected commercial collectors traveling in shopping trolleys. Anyone who removes more mushrooms than is permitted for their own use runs the risk of paying a fine of up to 20,000 euros. However, the LDS Forestry Department has not yet registered any cases of commercial collection, indicating difficulties in regular inspections.
The discussion about gravel roads
Another topic that stirs people's minds are the gravel roads in Blankenfelde-Mahlow. The Free Voters Group is demanding that these streets be paved, while the city administration is opposed to this and is not complying with the request for various reasons, including the narrowness of the streets. This discussion has been going on since May and shows that the community needs ideas for possible solutions.
Overall, the region has a lot to offer - be it in terms of transport infrastructure, environmental protection or the challenges of local transport. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and what solutions will be found to meet the needs of citizens.
