Oskar Haffner from Senftenberg is celebrating his impressive 100th birthday!

A very special occasion was celebrated in the heart of Senftenberg: Oskar Haffner, a native of Saarburg, turned 100. The birthday fell on November 5th, 2025, and the celebratory gathering took place in the comfortable surroundings of the market café, in the presence of family and friends. Mayor Andreas Pfeiffer conveyed the city's warm congratulations and thereby underlined the importance of this anniversary for the community.

Oskar himself was born in 1925 and moved to Lusatia during the Second World War. There he began a remarkable career as an electrical engineer in the Hoyerswerda housing complex, where he worked for many years. In 1947 he said yes to his true love in the Senftenberg town hall and founded a family that gave him two children, the daughter Doris and the son Dieter.

A family in retrospect

Oskar Haffner lives on Asternweg in Senftenberg and is lovingly looked after by his daughter Doris. He and his family celebrate an annual family reunion at Pentecost - the next reunion is already planned for 2026. The celebrant can also look forward to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom are an important part of his life.

In his free time, Oskar is an interested newspaper reader and occasionally treats himself to a glass of sweet white wine. He looks back on a time he enjoyed traveling in the GDR, where he often went on excursions. He soon plans to visit his son Dieter, which is sure to be a happy event.
