Attempted robbery in Senftenberg: Masked perpetrator attacks gas station!

Last week there were several incidents in the Senftenberg region that brought local police work into focus. While an attempted robbery at a gas station last Saturday caused a stir, the robbery at a gas station in Altdöbern also remains in the memory.

An unknown perpetrator entered the gas station in Senftenberg around the evening on August 25, 2025, wore a mask and threatened the employee. However, she refused to be intimidated and loudly asked the man to leave the gas station. The perpetrator complied with this request and no theft or injuries occurred. The employee immediately informed the police, who are now investigating the attempted robbery. These incidents show how important it is for employees in such facilities to act prudently, even in critical moments. The police advise staying calm in the event of a threat and alerting for help quickly, because active intervention can be life-threatening - the perpetrators could possibly be armed, as rbb24 reports.

Attack in Altdöbern

In another incident in Altdöbern, about two weeks earlier, two unknown groups of perpetrators became active. On August 11, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., two masked men entered the gas station on Senftenberger Strasse, threatened an employee and demanded cash. After receiving the money, the perpetrators fled in an unknown direction. Fortunately, there were no injuries here either, but the incident remains of interest to the police, who searched the area immediately after the attack, but did not arrest the perpetrators. The investigation is ongoing and witnesses are encouraged to report information, as lr-online reports.

A look at crime in Germany

As statistics from recent years show, robberies and thefts are a serious problem in Germany. In 2022, over 38,000 robbery crimes were recorded by the police, including 628 robberies at gas stations. This figure shows that the risk for employees in these areas remains high. In the North Rhine-Westphalia region alone, over 23,500 residential burglaries were registered, and the clearance rate for residential burglaries is only 16.1%, which shows how difficult it is for the police to solve these crimes. It is therefore important for the population to be vigilant and to notify the police quickly if something suspicious is observed, because the clearance rate for robbery crimes is almost 60%, significantly higher than for other crimes, as shown by data from Statista.

The incidents in Senftenberg and Altdöbern urge caution and reinforce the need to pay attention to personal safety strategies. At a time when crime appears to be at a premium, protecting employees and citizens is more important than ever.
