New clue in the Rebecca Reusch case: Twingo spotted on the A12!

15-year-old Rebecca Reusch from Berlin has been missing since February 18, 2019. The case that has gripped the nation remains unsolved today. Her family alerted the police after Rebecca failed to show up at school that day. A nationally known picture of the young person shows her differently than she actually looks. On the weekend of October 20th and 21st, 2025, a large police presence took place in Brandenburg to intensify the investigation, the results of which are currently being evaluated. The MZ reports on the latest developments.

A new witness, 69-year-old Martina R., has come forward and claims to have seen a raspberry-red Renault Twingo on the A12 on the morning of Rebecca's disappearance. At 10:47 a.m., exactly when the vehicle was registered by a license plate recognition system, she was driving on the highway. This is a crucial clue because Rebecca's brother-in-law, who was 27 at the time, is the focus of the investigation as a suspect at the time of the disappearance. As the FR Reportedly, the brother-in-law had sole access to the vehicle during this time, which further fuels the investigation.

Investigations and searches

As part of their investigation, the police repeatedly searched Rebecca's brother-in-law's house. A new search was only carried out on April 13, 2023, after novel clues emerged from his Google search history. The search for the missing Rebecca gained new momentum when her brother-in-law came into focus by the police on a property in Tauche on October 20th and 21st, 2025. During this search, cadaver dogs and other technical means were used to secure possible evidence.

Martina R.'s testimony could be decisive. She reported that on February 18, 2019, she noticed a large object covered with a dark blanket in the Twingo. During her journey, she left the motorway at the Fürstenwalde Ost exit, while the Twingo turned south, where the brother-in-law's property is located. These observations were confirmed by her husband and sister.

The brother-in-law remains a suspect

The investigators take Rebecca's brother-in-law very seriously. He was provisionally arrested on February 28, 2019, but released on March 1. He denies having any connection to his mother-in-law's disappearance, but he continues to be closely monitored. According to police, there is evidence that he may have killed Rebecca and dumped her remains on the property in Tauche. The case has already attracted national media attention and was even covered in the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY” on March 6, 2019, but without the case being clarified.

The police warn against unauthorized investigations by amateur detectives as they could hinder official investigations. Jürgen Trovato, a well-known case investigator, has also distanced himself from further private investigations. The country's search remains intensive and Rebecca's relatives, who still have hope of seeing her again, continue to fear for answers.
