Landslides on the A24: Neuruppin's driveway temporarily closed!
The A24 Neuruppin exit towards Hamburg has been partially closed since Wednesday evening. The reason for the measure is landslides on the embankment of the driveway, which were probably triggered by heavy rain. Loud MAZ Earth movements have been detected in at least two sections of the road embankment. However, the road itself remained untouched, so there is no danger to traffic in this area.
To prevent further damage from undercutting, a construction crew has already installed drainage. The responsible operating company Havellandautobahn plans to reopen traffic at around 2 p.m. Landslides like this are not uncommon in the region, especially after extreme weather events. A look into the past shows that in 2016 the A14 in Prignitz was closed for days due to similar problems.
Residents and commuters affected
The closed area is on a particularly busy route between Berlin and Hamburg. It is not uncommon for serious accidents to occur on this highway DAY24 reported. Daily accidents, spectacular crashes and the resulting closures are the order of the day here. Important points on the route are the Schwerin intersection, Wittstock triangle, Neuruppin and Fehrbellin.
Commuters and travelers are asked to avoid this area to avoid prolonged traffic jams and further disruption. Especially after accidents, it is advisable to consider various detours in order to reach your destination safely. These precautions are crucial as the A24 motorway is regularly affected by serious traffic accidents, often involving cars, motorcycles, buses and trucks.
The current situation shows once again how important a well-functioning infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather conditions is. The authorities ask all road users to exercise increased caution and understanding during the work and the necessary diversions.
