Neuruppin opens new palliative care center: A light in dark times!
There is reason to be happy in Neuruppin: a new palliative care center has been opened, which has a very special meaning for the region. With an investment volume of around four million euros, the facility is now ready to offer high-quality care to people with life-limiting illnesses. Inside, the first tenants expect not only twelve apartments in the coming years, but also eight places for short-term care, which can be occupied from July 2024 MAZ reported.
The Prignitz-Ruppiner Hospice Society, which has existed for five years, is pleased with the successful construction, the foundation stone of which was laid in November 2023. Mayor Nico Ruhle described the center as groundbreaking and ideally located. Interestingly, there is also a listed clinker brick building on the property from 1878, which formerly belonged to the Schönbeck brewery and in the past fulfilled various functions such as a makeshift prison. In the future, a cultural and training center is to be built here, in collaboration with the Medical University, reports Hospice Society Neuruppin.
Need for palliative care
The opening of the palliative care center comes at the right time, as many patients are urgently waiting for a place in hospice facilities in Neuruppin and the surrounding area. The population has become increasingly aware of the importance of good palliative care. The outpatient care service that will be moving in is also well positioned to meet this growing demand and offer individual advice on palliative living.
The project is supported by various donors, including the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and the Pact for Care. Particularly worth mentioning is the funding of 300,000 euros from the German Television Lottery, which is further driving the project forward.

There is also an entertaining competition for the local community: The MAZ is looking for the coolest driving instructor in Ostprignitz-Ruppin. Andreas Rühmling, an experienced driving instructor with 42 years in the industry, is one of the nominees. This could be a nice incentive for everyone to cast their votes for the best driving instructors in the region!
Neuruppin shows itself in a special light - whether in the area of health care or in everyday life, we are actively working on the future here.
