Neuruppin is pedaling hard for the second time in city cycling!

A lot has happened in Neuruppin in the last few days. On June 26th, Gabi Theel handed over the presidency of the Lions Club Effi Briest to Constanze Knappe. The club, which has now existed for 24 years, is sustainably committed to social projects. Last year, an impressive 14,400 euros were donated for the renovation of the city park, which shows how important such initiatives are for the community. In keeping with this social commitment, the members will continue to be active in the coming period.

But it's not just club life that's happening in the region. A very special event took place on June 27th when Johanna and Horst Wagenfeld were honored for their commitment to the tourism and cultural development of Netzeband. They received a monument in the form of a stele designed by the artist Markus Thelen. Such honors are important to recognize the commitment of fellow citizens.

Climate protection on two wheels

This year's “CITY CYCLING” campaign took place in Neuruppin from June 3rd to 23rd and was successfully carried out for the first time. A total of 227 people from 32 teams took part and together covered over 200,000 kilometers by bike, which has more than doubled compared to the previous year. The head of the building department, Jan Juraschek, described the participation as a great success and did not rule out that this competition to promote cycling and climate protection would be continued next year. Mayor Nico Ruhle was particularly pleased about winning a bicycle bet that required 10,000 kilometers and will now lead to a new bicycle service station in the city.

The best teams based on kilometers cycled were:

Place team Kilometers cycled
1. X-Team 7,511km
2. The Rolling Hillbilly's 5,487km
3. Neuruppin city administration 4,930km

Neuruppin and the Climate Alliance are continuing to set priorities in promoting cycling, which not only benefits air quality but also the quality of life of citizens. The city administration has already finalized all plans for participation in CITY CYCLING 2025 and is in the starting blocks to defend the title.

Expansions in the cultural area

The artistic contributions to culture also shape the region. A permanent exhibition about the resistance fighter Friedrich Justus Perels will open in Lindow on July 1st, which takes up an important part of history. The lawyer and resistance fighter fought against National Socialism and is now being honored posthumously. The lecture about the Lebensbornheim Klosterheide, which is planned for July 4th, also promises exciting insights into the history of the region.

Other events, such as the anniversary celebration of the volleyball club in Kyritz, which takes place on July 5th, ensure lively togetherness and strengthen the community. Here, citizens have the opportunity to get actively involved and actively spend their free time.

This variety of events and initiatives shows that the commitment of citizens in Neuruppin and the surrounding area is very important. Whether cycling for the climate or cultivating cultural identity – solidarity is strong and continues to be promoted.
