Thrilling derby on Saturday: Perleberg vs. Wittenberge - who will win?

There is a touch of thrill and anticipation in the air, because on September 27th at 2 p.m. the eagerly awaited derby between SSV Unit Perleberg and FSV Veritas Wittenberge will take place in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark in Perleberg. How maz online reports, old rivalries that are not only alive on the field but also in everyday life between the two cities are setting off real football fireworks.

The West regional class, in which the two Prignitz teams compete, has a total of 16 teams from two football districts. While FK Hansa Wittstock is the only team from the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district playing in the West season, Pritzwalker FHV 03 and Pankower SV Rot-Weiß are also represented in the league. Things get particularly hot when Perleberg and Wittenberge duel - a match that brings a lot of attention not only to the athletes, but also to the fans and the local media.

The current status in the league

The league game season is coming to an end and the competition is fierce: SG Bornim is already confirmed as the season winner and promoted to the state league. SV Blumenthal/Grabow, on the other hand, will have to make the bitter journey to the lower leagues. Almost four teams have to worry about staying in the league, while the derby is considered one of the crucial games of the season. The boys from SSV Unit Perleberg have big plans and are in a long-distance duel with FSV Veritas Wittenberge/Breese for the title of “best Prignitz team”.

After a difficult start with a point deduction and injury problems, the Perleberg team have recovered. In the leading head-to-head race, Perleberg only needs to collect one point to secure the runner-up position. Nevertheless, they want the victory and, thanks to the strong performance from the last game against Blau-Gelb Falkensee (7:1), they want to go into the derby with a big chest.

Players in focus

Frederik Töpfer, the important player of SSV Unit, sees the tradition of the derby as an essential part of the motivation. “The derby is the absolute highlight for many players, who often work in the other city,” said Töpfer. He himself scored over 100 goals in his career and was able to score 40 goals in his first year after returning to Perleberg. For the upcoming duel, it could be crucial to rely on your strengths, possibly also defensively, in order to carry the momentum into the rest of the season.

Wittenberge, on the other hand, has left a shaky impression in the last few encounters. After a draw against Brieselang and a clear defeat against Babelsberg 03 II, the chances for Veritas are not optimal. However, coach Manuel Roeseler made it clear that the focus should only be on the upcoming game - the table is currently being viewed as a secondary consideration.

  • Tabellenplatz SSV Einheit Perleberg: 2. Platz, mit 21 Punkten.
  • Tabellenplatz FSV Veritas Wittenberge: 3. Platz, mit 19 Punkten.
  • Begegnungen im Hinspiel: Wittenberge verlor gegen Hansa mit 0:2.

On Saturday, September 27th, there will be a big showdown that will shape the mood in the entire area. Who will have the upper hand in the derby? Another highlight that football fans shouldn't miss!
