Maik Horn, better known as “Trecker-Maik”, has done it! After a nine-day journey from Kränzlin near Neuruppin to Barcelona, ​​where he arrived at 6:30 a.m., he completed the first part of his somewhat unusual adventure trip. On Wednesday the group boarded a ferry that took them to Mallorca overnight. This extraordinary journey, which covers more than 2,100 kilometers, was a long-cherished dream for Maik that he has been planning for 20 years, and finally the time has come!

The trip is particularly meaningful for Maik as he wants to celebrate his 50th birthday with his wife Dani and friends on the popular island on July 4th. For this trip he converted his 210 hp ZT 323 tractor because flying is a no-go for him - the fear of it has been with him for years. “Trecker-Maik” has only boarded an airplane twice in his life and is therefore a true lover of down-to-earth travel. To save costs, the group decided to sleep in their vehicles instead of resorting to expensive hotel accommodations.

The tractor ride into the unknown

Maik is not alone; Accompanied by his wife Dani, who drives a Wartburg 1.3, numerous friends and supporters arrived in their vehicles. They stay brave on the trip and take various support vehicles with them, including an IFA W50 truck and a motorhome. A tattoo of the logo of the former VEB Traktorenwerk Schönebeck on Maik's upper arm shows his connection to tractor culture. The group is also supported by friends who drive along with a second tractor and other classic cars and has also prepared itself for spare parts.

During the journey there were various stops in cities such as Möckern, Wölfershausen and Bad Mergentheim. However, an instructive setback also brought a small shock: the Wartburg broke down due to an oil leak and had to be towed away. But these challenges have not discouraged the troops; instead they are looking forward to continuing on to Strasbourg at the weekend.

Future adventures in Mallorca

After arriving in Mallorca, Maik plans a tour around the island, which includes the Megapark and the “Beer King”. Before the 50th birthday celebrations, he would like to relax and give his tractor a thorough wash so that he can get ready for the experiences ahead. That sounds like a perfect plan for a summer full of good cheer and friendship.

The entire trip is not only a celebration of life, but also a tribute to a very personal adventure that Maik will remember.
