Economy in Rheinsberg: Entrepreneurs demand more support and communication!
The mayoral elections are just around the corner in Rheinsberg, and the candidates have different perspectives when it comes to supporting companies. This Wednesday, the applicants met for a MAZ election talk, where they presented their ideas for the city's future economic structure. One of the candidates is Lukas Schröglmann (30, SPD), who proposes a communication portal in the city administration. “We have to seek direct contact with the companies,” he explains, signaling his willingness to promote dialogue. MAZ Online reports on the various approaches that are to be implemented to better support companies in Rheinsberg.
On the other side is Silke Peitsch (62, CDU), who founded a company get-together. She points to the existing networks with institutions such as the employment agency and the IHK, which are already helping to solve the problem. Mario Stärck (57, Left Party), on the other hand, calls for the creation of a treasurer who specializes in acquiring funding. Stärck also wants to bring his own experiences as a social worker and neighborhood manager into the mix. The incumbent mayor Frank-Rudi Schwochow (38, BVB Free Voters), on the other hand, is skeptical about the proposals and relies on personal discussions with the entrepreneurs.
Improve conditions for companies
A central point in the discussion is the entrepreneur Andreas Endler (63), who is frustrated by the lack of communication in the city. “I have only seen the mayor once in 30 years,” he says and calls for an end to hatred and agitation in Rheinsberg. Endler sees the election as an opportunity for a new beginning and hopes for positive change for the city.
The election will take place on Sunday, September 28th. If no candidate achieves an absolute majority, a runoff election between the two best-placed candidates will be scheduled for October 12th. The agenda includes not only entrepreneurs, but also measures such as promoting startups and improving the living conditions of young families and doctors. The Left OPR emphasizes that Stärck lives on the outskirts of the city and actively takes care of the city's needs.
Regional structural policy in focus
In connection with economic development, the discussion also refers to the nationwide initiative to improve the regional economic structure. The joint task “Improvement of the regional economic structure” (GRW) aims to provide targeted support to structurally weak regions. The funding aims to compensate for locational disadvantages and create jobs. It is reported that the 2022 GRW reform is particularly aimed at promoting the development of industrial and commercial areas in such regions Federal Ministry of Economics.
The coming election could therefore mark a decisive turning point for Rheinsberg, where the mood among companies is noticeably tense. It remains to be seen which of the candidates can win the trust of voters and what course will be set for a better economic situation.
