Construction projects in Potsdam: road work postponed to 2026!
In the picturesque region of the Hohen Fläming, there are a number of large construction projects due to change in the transport infrastructure, which, however, have been postponed until 2026 and later. The Brandenburg State Road Authority confirmed this today. This information is of great importance for those affected and commuters because it not only brings about changes in the traffic situation, but also important considerations regarding traffic safety.
Three major projects on the federal highways B2, B107 and B246 were planned for 2025. This construction work, initially planned for 2025, has now been postponed to the coming years. The shift particularly affects the through towns in Treuenbrietzen, Klein Glien and Buckau, where residents have to prepare for extensive construction sites. Responsible sources, for example maz-online.de, report on the new start times of the construction phases and their effects.
Construction phases and their time frames
The projects will be implemented in several phases, starting with the Treuenbrietzen through town. The first construction phase is scheduled to start in spring 2026 and extend from the main road to just before the roundabout. In 2027, the second section will follow from the roundabout to the level crossing and the third section along Leipziger Straße. In addition to the road work, additional measures to improve road safety for cyclists are also planned. A renewal of the B2 in the old town was originally planned for the summer holidays of 2025, but residents and the city administration have expressed concerns.
Construction work for the B246 through town in Klein Glien will also begin in spring 2026. This delay results from coordination between various parties involved, such as the city of Bad Belzig and Regiobus Potsdam-Mittelmark. A central concern is the redesign of the stops near the church, with the roadway narrowed to protect trees. Originally planned bus stops at the entrance and exit of the town will be deleted.
Waiting for the B107
And then there is the B107 between Görzke and Ziesar, where work is scheduled to begin in summer 2026. “It will be necessary for the renovation of the L94 between Görzke and Grüningen to be completed in time,” referring to the importance of the diversion. Later construction phases are also planned for 2027 and 2028/29, although the exact reasons for the delays remain unclear. This information vacuum causes dissatisfaction among many residents.
These extensive projects are not only crucial for the local infrastructure, but also important for the safety of all road users. Movements in transport policy are important - especially if they make our everyday lives a little safer. The users of these roads can hope for rapid implementation, even if the plans now extend over a longer period of time.
In addition, it is clear that in other projects, such as the planned B167 bypass, various measures are already included in the urgent needs of the requirements plan, but no concrete implementation data is available. The pressure to improve the transport infrastructure continues to be a topic of conversation in the associated communities, such as on brandenburg.de can be read.
