Move into the new after-school care building in Beelitz is delayed - huge disappointment!

In Beelitz, the elementary and after-school students are waiting to move into their new after-school building. While the move, originally planned for the beginning of November, has now been postponed to the end of November due to negligence on the part of the construction company, the anticipation of the new premises remains great. Loud maz-online.de Mayor Bernhard Knuth is correspondingly disappointed with the construction company, which did not provide the required certificates and evidence on time.

The Beelitzer Bau- und Wohnungsgesellschaft (Bebawo) is responsible for the conversion of the former administration building. Although the collaboration between the city and Bebawo met the schedule, the work was affected by delays at the developer. Thanks to the extensive renovations, space will be created for 350 to 400 children who will be able to use the central rooms of the new facility in the future. However, until it is finally completed, some students will have to make do with lessons in containers and after-school care within the “Kinderland” daycare center.

A modern educational project for Beelitz

The new after-school building promises a significant improvement for the students of the Diesterweg primary school. Loud bebawo.de It combines two existing after-school care locations and, in addition to play and sports rooms, also offers a cafeteria with a terrace - a little treat for the children. With a view of the city's landmarks, such as the water tower and the post mill, the building is described by Mayor Knuth as an "architectural jewel".

The project costs amount to an impressive nine million euros, meaning the city is investing in the future of education. Completion, which was originally planned for summer 2025, was unfortunately pushed back due to the delayed start of construction. However, the renovation is intended to provide a protected space for learning and leisure in the future and is therefore necessary to meet the increasing demand for educational places.

Challenges in educational construction

But the project is not an isolated case. In Germany, the education system is faced with an investment backlog of 54.8 billion euros, according to architekturblatt.de resulting from increasing student numbers and inadequate infrastructure. The insufficient construction activity is a step backwards in an area that desperately needs modernization. The multitude of challenges - from a lack of funding to bureaucratic hurdles - are delaying progress not only in Beelitz, but also in many other locations in Germany where children have to be taught in dilapidated schools.

It remains to be hoped that the move to the new after-school building can take place soon and that the little ones will soon be able to enjoy the advantages of the new premises. Short-term solutions in construction policy, such as the introduction of modular construction methods, could also represent a promising option for the city of Beelitz to more effectively counteract the educational crisis in Germany.
