Revitalization of the wire drawing industry: Wiesenburg's new commercial horizon!

A lot is happening in Wiesenburg: the site of the former wire drawing factory is being transformed step by step into a modern commercial location. This ambitious project, which will cost around 6 million euros, not only looks boldly into the future, but also brings the hope of new jobs. How maz online reported, the resumption of welding wire production in the large hall is on the agenda, and the first demolition work for the revitalization has already begun.

The area covers an impressive 32,000 square meters, which will be available for companies to locate there. From 2026, around 30,000 square meters of this area could be available for commercial use. Mayor Marco Beckendorf is pleased with the progress and points out the importance of the project for the economic development of the region Wiesenburg Mark reported.

Current status of the work

The team is currently busy renovating the roofs and preparing a planned photovoltaic system. Although the demolition work is proceeding according to plan, those responsible had to deal with a few hurdles. Among other things, there were difficulties for the civil engineers due to a lack of documentation about laid lines and pipes and cables that were not installed according to regulations. This condition led to a power outage and another incident in which an excavator damaged a gas pipe, leading to the short-term evacuation of residents.

Regular samples are taken to ensure that the soil and water supplies do not have any contaminated sites. These measures are already having an effect: The Berlin laboratories found no abnormalities in the concrete parts, which enables the demolished material to be reused. The project is financed with 4.4 million euros from the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg and an additional 1.1 million euros from the municipality.

The future in the mastermind park

The revitalization of time-honored industrial areas offers great potential for urban development. However, the challenges should not be underestimated. Enough examples from all over Germany prove that the change from an industrial to a service society also affects other regions. The conversion of such areas can be successful, as in the case of the Emscher Landscape Park in the Ruhr area, but requires extensive preparatory work and creative approaches in order to remove contaminated sites and develop new uses, such as abes online described in detail.

With more than 30 active users on the site who have already leased storage space, it is clear that something is moving in Wiesenburg. Discussions with established companies and start-ups to further market the site are also in full swing. The revitalization of the production facilities and the advancement of new business models are the next steps on the way to becoming a modern and thriving commercial location.

Meanwhile, residents are asked to be patient. Noise reductions and construction site traffic are expected in the coming months. If you have any questions, you can contact the building authority or economic development department directly.
