Serious traffic accident: Woman (60) in helicopter after collision with truck!

On Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the country road between Klein and Groß Biesen, which led to a dramatic rescue operation. A 60-year-old woman was seriously injured in a collision with an oncoming truck. As reported by polizei.brandenburg.de, visibility obstructions caused by agricultural work next to the road could be considered as a possible cause of the accident.

The serious accident occurred at 3:45 p.m. Rescue workers were quickly on the scene and freed the injured woman from her vehicle. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transported to a hospital by rescue helicopter. Fortunately, the truck driver was uninjured, while the damage to the two vehicles amounts to around 25,000 euros.

Use of the helicopter

Helicopter operations are an indispensable part of emergency and rescue services in Germany. They offer quick help, especially in traffic accidents, where every minute counts. However, the area of application also includes mountain rescues and police operations in order to be able to react optimally in critical situations. TAG24 emphasizes that helicopters are ready for use at any time and make a decisive contribution to safety in emergencies.

The police have secured the scene of the accident and started an investigation. The accident report has been filed and the criminal police will clarify further details. Unfortunately, such accidents are not uncommon in Germany, where around 2.5 million road traffic accidents were registered in 2023. The trend over the last few decades shows that the number of accidents is increasing due to increasingly intensive traffic.

Road safety in focus

According to Statista, the number of accidents resulting in personal injuries remains at a similar level compared to the 1950s. The aim of the EU transport ministers is to have no more traffic fatalities by 2050 - an ambitious project that is already showing initial progress. However, there are still many reasons that lead to accidents, such as insufficient distance, inappropriate speed or driving under the influence of alcohol. The increase in accidents involving e-bikes and e-scooters is particularly alarming.

Every traffic accident has a profound impact, not only on the people involved, but also on their families and the community. The current incident in Biesen is a sobering example of how important it is to always be vigilant and careful in traffic.
