Dispute over Lerchenpark: donation of millions and owners block construction!
The community of Stahnsdorf is facing a small family story: a generous donor, but also insurmountable obstacles. At the end of July, the community accepted a donation of 3.5 million euros to create the popular “Lerchenpark” on Sonnenblumenweg. Planned by the architect Richard Gerhard Winkler, this park area is to be transformed into a place of relaxation for young and old. The idea behind the project is not only to create a green oasis, but also a real benefit for the community, which is encouraged to experience nature in a new way, reports the Märkische Allgemeine.
But the joy of the donation is overshadowed by worries. The property on which the park is to be built does not belong to the municipality, but to an owners' association that stands in the way. The owners have stated clearly that they do not want to sell and have even threatened the community with a lawsuit to examine the development plan. Mayor Bernd Albers is concerned about the situation and reports that the owners only want to make a decision about the purchase offer after their regulatory review process has been completed. This procedure is considered crucial for checking the legality of the development plan.
Challenges and concerns
The negotiations between the municipality and the owners' association are proving to be tough. While some hope for the park to be built, others want to build new apartments on the site. A sensitive point that is not without controversy within the local council. Various politicians' perspectives conflict: some are in favor of the park, while others see the donation as not entirely selfless. As a result, the CDU/FDP parliamentary group expresses major concerns, particularly with regard to the financial and legal implications of such a decision Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting reported.
The criticism even goes so far that one has to think about the future of the donation-financed project if 90-year-old Richard Gerhard Winkler died before construction began. In such a case, his foundation could revoke the municipality's permission to use the funds. These uncertainties raise questions that are difficult for the community to resolve.
Design and use of the park
If the “Lerchenpark” is ultimately built, the planned design is promising. The vision envisages a mix of trees, bushes, orchards and open spaces for animals and people. Sports and playgrounds as well as relaxation areas are also part of the plan, according to an article Landscaping is very welcome. The approach to park design should take all age groups and interests into account and create an inclusive space that invites people to linger and relax.
Modern elements such as open-air cafés and attractive meeting points that encourage social interaction are also planned. The focus is on sustainability, which is why environmentally friendly materials and local plants should be integrated into the design.
The question remains whether the administration of the municipality of Stahnsdorf will make a purchase offer to the owners' association, despite the clear rejection. A controversial issue that will be in focus in the coming months and will determine the future of the park. Time is running out because the municipality has up to 15 years to realize the park after accepting the donation.
