20 years of Project House Potsdam: Community instead of rent madness!
The Potsdam Project House is celebrating a very special anniversary: 20 years of dedicated work for affordable housing and real community. Over these two decades, the house has developed into a self-organized center for civil society project work that not only offers accommodation but also a home for many people. Today, 32 residents live there in three houses and go about their everyday lives together. This also applies to Natalia Roman, whose apartment forms part of this inspiring project. Daily Mirror reports that the project house offers all residents the opportunity to live regardless of their income.
The idea behind the project house, which was realized in 2005 after more than ten years of preparation, is to create alternative forms of living and living. [Cohousing Berlin]( https://www.cohousing-berlin.de/projekte/projekthaus-potsdam ) describes that the project house also includes office space and serves the practical implementation of social alternatives. Not only do people live here, but they also actively work on social issues and promote solidarity.
A place of community
The project house enables people of different ages and backgrounds to live and get involved under one roof. It is a lively place where exchange and mutual support come first. The tenement syndicate, to which the project house belongs, plays a special role. The aim of this membership is to create long-term community property and secure stable social rental prices - a future-oriented model in times of rising housing costs.
Another highlight of the project house is the low-energy house built in 2014. It is seen as an example of ecological and social building and shows how sustainable architecture can be integrated into communal living space.
Social responsibility
But the project house is not just a place to live, it is also actively involved in social and global debates. It offers space for discussion and project work that goes far beyond your own four walls. The ideas and initiatives that arise here are based on social centers and communities that are active worldwide and represent a valuable enrichment for the diversity of society.
In today's world, when the challenges of the housing market are becoming more and more urgent, the Potsdam project house shows how real alternatives can be created through collective thinking and action. A success that is not only celebrated, but can also serve as a guide for future projects and initiatives.
