Forced to Mode rock Potsdam: An evening full of memories!
A fantastic music event recently took place in Potsdam: the popular band Forced to Mode. On July 13, 2025, they rocked the Waschhaus Openair stage with a rousing selection of songs that made the hearts of many Depeche Mode fans beat faster. This concert promised not only nostalgia, but also an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
The audience enjoyed a bombastic playlist with hits like “People are People” from 1984 and “Enjoy the Silence” from 1990. Classics like “Just Can’t Get Enough” (1981), “A Question of Lust” and “Stripped” (both from 1986) were also not missing. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was exuberant and energetic – exactly what you would hope for from a live concert. The organizer, Rengo Wunderlich, really summed it up when he praised the deep connection to the music and the closeness to the original, which only strengthened the atmosphere.
Enthusiastic visitors and an atmospheric night
The number of visitors was considerable and the enthusiasm was hard to ignore. Hartmut Behrenwald and his wife, who are considered Depeche Mode fans, were overjoyed to experience the concert, while Manuela Thiel was at a Forced to Mode performance for the fifth time. “It’s just always great,” she laughed. Vera Radtke from Babelsberg emphasized how much the music of her youth resonates.
The evening was more than just a concert: After more than two hours and several encores that continually encouraged the audience to celebrate, the last notes of “Just Can’t Get Enough” were belted out into the night. As those present reported, it was a fantastic evening that left a lasting impression.
Insight into music history
The Depeche Mode music on which Forced to Mode draws has a history spanning decades. The band first performed live in 1980, which laid the foundation for their success. All songs played were - mostly - written by Vince Clarke, with some pieces by Martin L. Gore also being included. This music not only makes an impression in Potsdam, the band also rocks the stages in other cities, such as Vienna. A report from Pix666 describes another energetic concert where the audience enthusiastically sang along to “Enjoy the Silence” and also made the finale with “Everything Counts” unforgettable.
The enthusiasm for Forced to Mode and its homage to Depeche Mode clearly shows that this music was not only a hit in the 80s, but still lives on in the hearts of fans today. This is how the soundtrack of our youth continues to be brought to the stages - and with a dedication that keeps the past decades alive.
