Discussion: What do children and families need in Potsdam?

On June 16, 2025, a meeting will take place at the Am Schlaatz community center in Potsdam to promote a dialogue about the needs of children, young people and families in districts such as Schlaatz, Waldstadt I and II and Potsdam Süd. How Potsdam.de reports, the event is aimed at local actors and partners in youth welfare as well as specialists from schools, daycare centers and clubs. The goal? To create greater awareness of issues such as media education, school truancy and inclusion.

The exchange takes place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and aims to build a “community of responsibility” in the social space. The focus will be on the question: What do we need – and what can we do together? The involvement of all institutions involved is of great importance.

Media education in dialogue

A central theme of this event will be media education. The “Media Education in Dialogue” project follows a three-stage approach that aims to develop recommendations for action for media education support in the dialogue between early childhood institutions and families. In a first phase, scientific findings on media education in early childhood education are researched, followed by the development of a catalog of criteria and a field phase that evaluates different media education concepts. The need for competent media education is becoming increasingly evident in today's digital world.
