A fresh wind blows through the volleyball halls of Potsdam: Johanna Schütte, the talented 17-year-old volleyball player, will open for SC Potsdam in the coming season. The decision to switch to the successful first division team is no coincidence, because Johanna sees it as a great opportunity to become part of a professional club who has a long tradition in the 1st Volleyball Bundesliga. Her enthusiasm for the club is not new - as a youth player, she often competed against Potsdam and was enthusiastic about the atmosphere in the MBS Arena. The joy of this step is only clouded by the requirement to master your Abitur in Berlin at the same time, which is a high burden for the young athlete.

To support Johanna during this transition period, SC Potsdam has planned close cooperation with the second team. There is the possibility that a player will be used from the second division team to reduce the stress for Johanna. In addition, she can also train with the second team or be used in the second division games, while she stays part of the first division squad. With these measures, the association wants to ensure that Johanna and the team are set up as best as possible.

The first half of the SC Potsdam

The past few months have been extremely successful for SC Potsdam in terms of sport. After the club has completed the first half of the season with 27 points in the 2nd place in the table, team manager Eugen Benzel is enthusiastic and describes this season as the best so far. Despite a narrow defeat against SSC Palmberg Schwerin (1: 3), the Potsdam women showed a positive performance. The tension of the game was also reflected in the sets: After a balanced start, Schwerin prevailed in the first sentence, but Potsdam dominated in the second set and was able to win the sentence. The decisive third sentence decided in favor of the opponents, although Potsdam fought until the end.

The most successful players in the game were Hester Jasper with 17 points, Fleur Savelkoel with 15 points and Maja Savic, who was chosen with 10 points for the MVP. Despite the disappointment with the defeat, sports director Toni Rieger is dissatisfied with the performance and speaks of fatigue among the players. Benzel, on the other hand, emphasizes that the third set was decisive and the first half of the season was positive.
