Creative conclusion: Art and performances inspire in Potsdam!
Today, November 8th, 2025, a special event will be celebrated in Potsdam: the finissage of the exhibition “Cosmos under the Atlas”. The Potsdam artist Christoph Tschernatsch brings the fascinating Aqua Tinta gravure printing technique into play. This technique fascinated Tschernatsch from the start, and his first encounter with Aqua Tinta took place in Goya's series “Caprichos” in A Coruña, Spain. Under the motto “Goya for everyone” he will reproduce his motifs in a mobile printing workshop between 1 and 4 p.m. and explain the connection between man and machine through his drawings.
Annette Paul, who will also present her photo of the “Neidkopf”, will not be left out. This special work has adorned the facade of a data center since 2021. For the finissage, Annette Paul has also announced the performance “Assert”, in which she brings together four of her previous performances. The central question that is addressed is how a free spirit can assert itself in its environment. The exciting program starts at 2 p.m. with a tour, followed by Paul's performance at 4 p.m.
An insight into the understanding of art
The event not only testifies to the creative power of the two artists, but also provides an insight into the deeper meaning of the term “art”. This comes from Middle Low German and is derived from the Proto-Germanic root *kunstiz, which means “knowledge” or “skill”. We find similar terms in German, Dutch and Swedish, all of which share this origin. Art therefore includes not only what we see, but also what the artists want to give us through their works.
In his work, Christoph Tschernatsch uses the Aqua Tinta technique to convey not only the classic craft of printing, but also a type of knowledge that unfolds through each of his prints. This feeling of depth and dimension takes on a new dimension through Tschernatsch's commitment. Annette Paul's performance, in turn, aims to stimulate reflection on one's own existence and individual assertion in the modern world.
Schedule for the day
For everyone who would like to be part of this unique finissage, here is an overview of the schedule:
- 13–16 Uhr: Performance von Christoph Tschernatsch „Goya für Alle“
- 14 Uhr: Rundgang mit den Ausstellungsmacher:innen
- 16 Uhr: Performance von Annette Paul „Behaupten“
A day like this, dedicated to art and artistic creation, not only creates awareness of the works themselves, but also opens up space for discussions about the role of art in our lives.
