Palace Night in Potsdam: Increased traffic and diversions!
The Castle Night in Potsdam is just around the corner and promises a special experience for all visitors. On Friday and Saturday, August 17th and 18th, 2025, the Potsdam transport company will expand its offering to make travel easier for the numerous guests. Additional rides will be offered from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. so no one misses the festive lights and special atmosphere of the night. The Tagesspiegel reports that tram 98 will run every 20 minutes between the main station and Charlottenhof Palace.
An important starting point for access to Sanssouci Park is the Luisenplatz-Süd stop. Here visitors can relax and board the tram to quickly reach the famous castle complex. The bus lines X15 and 695 are also used, but they depart from different stops in the Sanssouci Palace area. Due to construction work at the Nord/ILB stop, bus routes X15, 612, 695 and 697 will begin their routes diverted from Thursday, August 21st. The regular Sanssouci Palace stop cannot be served during this time.
Timetables and changes
Stops X15 and 695 have set up special replacement stops. The X15 bus will stop on Schopenhauerstrasse, south of the Bornstedter Strasse/Voltaireweg intersection. Bus 695, on the other hand, stops at the Schloss Sanssouci/Bornstedter Straße stop, north of the intersection. Overall, the X15 bus will offer additional trips between the main station and the replacement stop at Sanssouci Palace on Friday and Saturday between 9 p.m. and midnight. Buses 695 and 697 will also be rerouted via Bornstedt and Bornim.
A particularly important note for all visitors: Entrance tickets to the Castle Night do not entitle you to use the trains and buses free of charge. It is necessary to buy tickets in order to get to the events comfortably. This makes the journey an unforgettable experience for guests from Cologne and the surrounding area.
The Palace Night is not only an opportunity to immerse yourself in Potsdam's cultural heritage, but also a chance to enjoy the atmospheric lighting and musical performances. Don't forget to plan well in advance and check current schedules to make the most of this unique event.
