Weekend highlights in Potsdam: fun for the whole family!

The weekend from September 19th to 21st, 2025 has a colorful program in Potsdam. Whether children, families or culture lovers – there is something for everyone. On Saturday, September 20th, the Friendship Island will be the venue for World Children's Day. From 2 p.m. there will be music by Rolf Zuckowski and Peter Schindler as well as the music theater “Nordstrand”. Admission is free and is therefore a great opportunity for a lovely family day.

Experience cultural diversity

The PotStreet Festival enchants the square at the Brandenburg Gate with street art, acrobatics, theater and juggling. It starts on Friday, September 19th and the free spectacle will last until Sunday. The Diversity Concert will also take place on Saturday in the Audimax of the University of Potsdam from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Here the International Potsdam Choir presents songs in eleven different languages ​​and invites everyone to enjoy this musical experience.

For those interested in art, the old Glindow brick factory is offering an exhibition until September 28th that shows portraits of brickworks workers by Monika Schulz-Fieguth. It's worth a visit to understand the history of the region artistically.

Family friendly events

The Apple Festival in the Russian Colony on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Alexandrowka Museum attracts with live music, an (apple) market, guided tours and face painting. Here, families with little explorers and connoisseurs can enjoy the autumnal apple harvest.

Anyone who would like to get active can take part in the proWissen run in Volkspark Potsdam on Sunday, September 21st. The event offers distances of 10 km, 5 km and a children's run of 0.8 km. The entry fees are quite family-friendly at 15 euros for the normal races and 2 euros for the children. Late registrations are possible up to half an hour before the start.

In addition, on the same Sunday there is the opportunity to get active on Bicycle Sunday around Lake Schwielowsee. It starts at 10 a.m., with two routes and live music for entertainment along the way - a treat for cyclists and walkers.

For everyone who is interested in cultural performances, the play “Biedermann and the Arsonists” will be performed at the Volksbühne Michendorf on Friday, September 19th. Firefighters are invited to take part free of charge on the first weekend.
