Arson in Perleberg: Cellar fire causes injuries and chaos!

A frightening basement fire occurred on Thomas-Müntzer-Straße in Perleberg on Friday evening, putting the local fire department and police authorities on alert. According to the information from maz-online.de, it could be arson, which was confirmed by police spokeswoman Dörte Röhrs. The fire broke out in a basement compartment around 9 p.m. and led to thick clouds of smoke that drifted through several staircases.

The Perleberg fire department and surrounding local fire departments were quickly deployed, which prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. Two other residents complained of respiratory problems and were able to stay on site.

Significant property damage and evacuation

The material damage is estimated at around 120,000 euros. After the fire, several apartments were without heating, water and electricity, making the situation more difficult for residents. Several similar cases have already been registered in recent months, in which arson is also suspected. One such incident occurred as recently as October 14th, when a pile of bulky waste burst into flames, causing damage of around 100 euros.
