Wittenberge is celebrating here: 35 years of pottery and new things from the region!

In the picturesque Prignitz region, where nature and history go hand in hand, there are numerous moving events that bring the community together. One of the most recent highlights is the celebration of 35 years of pottery in Wittenberge, which was duly recognized on August 20th by Kathrin Kückel-Schulz, Mayor Oliver Hermann and numerous guests. Kückel-Schulz, who also leads a ceramics circle, is a fixture in the local arts and crafts scene and has not only inspired many people with her work, but has also enriched the region culturally. These foundations of culture are what make Prignitz a unique place - a place whose name is even derived from the Old Polabian "pregynica", which means "inaccessible forest area" Wikipedia reports on it.

But pottery is not the only thing that animates Prignitz. On the same day, a new photo gallery with pictures by photographer Nico Dalchow was opened in Perleberg. This exhibition in the academy building at Große Markt 12 is another example of how creative minds in the region showcase their work and make it accessible to the public. Cultural life here is thriving and shows that art, in all its forms, is an important part of community life.

Politics and civic engagement

This represents a modern step towards citizen-friendliness, allowing everyone to participate in elections more easily and quickly. And the senior citizens' advisory councils are also active: in the run-up to events, the members meet on August 28th to plan the upcoming events.

The social commitment is also reflected in the recent activities of the rural seniors, who took part in a city tour on August 19th. Mayor Ronald Thiel was on site to accompany and support the group. Such actions not only promote social contacts, but also strengthen identification with one's own home region.

Cultural festivals and nature experiences

However, Prignitz is not just culture and politics. Nature and the idyllic landscape are also a major attraction. The region offers opportunities for extended strolls along the Elbe dike and through the quiet forests, perfect for anyone looking for the silence and freedom of nature. “Take a deep breath” and “find inner peace” is very important here. And anyone who is interested in the culinary side of Prignitz should definitely try the region’s specialty – Knieperkohl. This delicacy, deeply rooted in tradition, not only tastes good, but also tells stories of the agricultural past The Prignitz offers many tips and inspiration.

With a population density of 36 per square kilometer and a landscape that reveals new facets in every corner, Prignitz offers space for clear thoughts and inner peace.
