Daycare Olympics in Lenzen: Children inspire with their sporting commitment!
In Lenzen there was a merry hustle and bustle for a special kind of sports festival. On June 25, 2025, the Kita Olympics took place in the Lenzen multi-purpose hall under the motto “Always on the move with Fritzi”. A total of 69 children between the ages of four and six got their money's worth by completing an exciting sporting course that combined running, throwing and skill. The aim of the event is to give young athletes the joy of exercise in a playful way, as maz-online.de reports.
The event was organized by the Prignitz District Sports Association (KSB) in collaboration with the Brandenburg Sports Youth and the Prignitz District Sports Youth. They were actively supported by the veteran footballers from SV Blau-Weiß Lenzen and the 6th grade students from the Gijsels-van-Lier primary school, who contributed to the successful implementation of the Olympics. Lenzen's mayor Walter Jahnke, who acted as patron, also praised the successful event. He expressed his wish for a repeat event, which shows that the event was well received not only by children but also by adults.
A colorful sports day for the little ones
The children had the opportunity to prove themselves in various disciplines. Whether snaking or throwing a ball – skill was required here. The participation of all daycare centers, such as the Erlebnisland daycare center from the municipality of Lanz, ensured a colorful atmosphere and sporting competitions that took place in a great atmosphere. True to the motto “Always on the move with Fritzi,” the little athletes were able to show what they were made of, reports nordkurier.de.
At the end of the event, all participating daycare centers received a trophy and each child was awarded a Fritzi medal for their achievements. This reward system further motivated the children to put in the effort and gave them a sense of achievement that lasted beyond the Olympics.
An event with a future
The Kita Olympics was not just a sporting event, but also a big community celebration. The children were not only able to test their sporting abilities, but also make friends and have shared experiences that will have a lasting impact on them. Rana Drechsel, chairwoman of the Prignitz District Sports Youth, and her helpers ensured an exciting and relaxed warm-up before the course began. The shared laughter and the smiling faces of the children are the best proof of the success of this initiative.
A big thank you goes to all the helpers who contributed to the success of the first daycare Olympics in Lenzen, as well as to Mayor Walter Jahnke and caretaker Ronald Grünwald for their support. It will be interesting to see whether this successful event will be continued next year.
