Modernization in Wittenberge: New living and higher street cleaning costs!

An impressive project is currently being implemented in Wittenberge: the apartment block on the street of unity, more precisely house numbers 20 to 26, is being comprehensively modernized. This project not only aims to reduce vacancies, but also appeals to people outside the city. Attractive maisonette apartments will be created inside, accompanied by a communal roof terrace, which will also be accessible to visitors to the 2027 State Garden Show. The modernization is part of the model district on Külzberg, an important step towards vibrant urban development and a better quality of life, as maz-online.de reports.

While a lot is happening in Wittenberge, there is also less positive news from the region: Perleberg is planning new fees and rules for street cleaning from January 2026. These changes will see several streets upgraded to higher cleaning classes, resulting in more cleaning calls and increasing costs for residents. The technical committee will deal with the issue in November and the decision should be made on December 4th.

Military exercises and traffic restrictions

The Luftwaffe's fighter and transport jets have been visible in the airspace over the Prignitz since the beginning of November. As part of the “Baltic Hunter” exercise, they are completing low-level flights under realistic conditions, which will last until November 13th. Such exercises are crucial for the troops to continue to be well prepared.

The construction site on the A14 between Wittenberge and Saxony-Anhalt is also causing a stir. The federal highway 189 is partially closed, the diversion is carried out using traffic lights. This measure is to be maintained until November 14th.

New fitness studio in Pritzwalk

There is also reason to be happy in Pritzwalk: the new fitness studio “Fitzone” at Marktstrasse 8 is expected to open at the end of November. The former Edeka market is now being revitalized and making the city center more attractive. Most of the training equipment is already in place and construction work is in full swing.

In the context of urban development and increasing urbanization, it becomes clear how important the construction of new living space and suitable infrastructure is. In view of the challenges of climate change that affect numerous cities, the Federal Development Ministry places particular emphasis on climate-friendly construction. Measures that could reduce energy consumption by almost half by 2050 are at the top of the agenda, as bmz.de describes.

Socioculture and sustainable, affordable housing are central concerns of these efforts. More than 99 percent of infrastructure spending has so far flowed into traditional infrastructure - a shift towards more environmentally friendly solutions is therefore absolutely necessary in order to meet future requirements.

Anyone who wants to stay informed in Prignitz and beyond should follow developments closely - there is really a lot going on here!
