Oerlinghausen celebrates 100 years of children's rifle festival: a festival for the future!

in Oerlinghausen, the cheering mood broke out on Sunday, June 29, 2025 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the children's shooter festival. At 4:01 p.m. the new children's king and the queen were crowned with a tense excitement. Jarne Landerbarthold, a 10-year-old student of the Niklas-Luhmann-Gymnasium, won the wooden eagle with the 98th shot and chose the 11-year-old Leona-Sophie Freise from the Heinz-Sielmann School as Queen. The two have known each other for a long time, which made the celebrations more exciting.

This year's festival attracted over 2,500 visitors who were enthusiastic about the shooting club. Under the organizational talent of the non -commissioned officer corps around Markus Höhne, numerous scores were set up and a large raffle provided additional entertainment. In the spirit of the family tradition, 17 girls and 17 boys took part in the competition, which was particularly lively this year.

The children's rifle festival in Oerlinghausen looks back on a long and proud tradition. As early as 1925, the first big festival was celebrated as an independent event after similar neighboring and street parties were previously organized in the town. The first beginnings of these celebrations go back to around 1900 when active helpers, such as Berta and Wilhelm Plaßmann, laid the foundations for this happy tradition. Wilhelm Plaßmann became chairman of the non -commissioned officer corps in 1923 and directed the first steps into the current form of the festival.

The 100th anniversary was opened with a festival march at 2:00 p.m. to the Schützenplatz am Steinbült, which led through the city and was led by the children's throne. Here the visitors presented children's king Nico Schmidt and children's queen Mia Michael as well as the crown prince couple Luisa Selke and Finn Moshage. In addition to the parade, numerous play stations provided a lot of fun: the attractions included bouncy castles, face painting, bowling and target shooting with water pistols.

Another highlight was the blue light mile staged by the police, fire brigade and emergency services in order to look a little behind the scenes of their work and to bring security and community closer to the children. Entry also made a family -friendly manner: children received admission for only 1 euro, adults paid 3 euros, which included a lot for the raffle. The children's cards were quickly out of stock, so that additional cards had to be reordered.

All participating children were able to look forward to an exclusive anniversary medal and a children's shooter festival bag. And if you took part in the pageant, you even got a free ice cream - that was particularly well received! Oerlinghausen celebrated a successful and sociable festival that kept the tradition and the community spirit of the small town alive. The next anniversary will definitely come, and the anticipation for this is already noticeable.
