An exciting event trip is coming up in the tranquil Lower Lusatia in September 2025: The School for Lower Sorbian language and culture organizes a language and cultural trip that not only deepens what you have learned, but also allows you to immerse yourself in Wendish life. From September 24th to 28th, everyone interested is invited to experience the beauty and diversity of Sorbian culture and language up close.

The trip is aimed at anyone who is already learning or speaking Lower Sorbian and would like to apply their language skills in an authentic setting. The program promises a colorful mix of language practice, museum visits, impressive nature experiences and personal encounters with Sorbian culture.

Insights into Sorbian culture

The cultural trip starts on the evening of September 24th with the traditionalSerbske blido, a Sorbian regulars' table in the Wendish Museum in Cottbus/Chóśebuz. During the following days, each stage is dedicated to a different region of the Sorbian/Wendish settlement area. Here you have the opportunity to get to know the living history and attractive traditions of the Sorbs/Wends better.

The event is not only organized by the school itself, but also by theFederal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media and the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburgpromoted. This shows how important the promotion of Sorbian/Wendish culture is for the region.

To the school for Lower Sorbian language and culture

It was founded School for Lower Sorbian language and culture in 1992 and has been an important part of the cultural landscape in Cottbus ever since. The sponsorship lies with the city administration, which takes care of the care and promotion of the cultural assets of the Sorbs/Wends. The aim of the institution is to revitalize the Sorbian language while at the same time promoting understanding of other languages ​​and cultures.

The school is not only a place for learning, but also a meeting place for Sorbs/Wends and other interested people from the region. Their offerings range from language courses and lecture series to projects and further training. Topics such as Sorbian history, art and customs also find their place here. The diversity of the target groups makes the offer particularly attractive.
